I have donated two plush to Princeton University’s event ‘Journey to the Centre of the Earth’. Fittingly it is the Ichthyosaur and Plesiosaur that have their epic battle in the book. My name (PaleoGirl Crafts) is even on the bottom of the poster in the tiny font!

This should be a great event so anyone in the area should check it out!

Made myself a nerdy infinity scarf. I made some stencils and hand painted each individual fossil onto the fabric. There are two different versions of gastropods, 2 different kinds of brachiopods and an archimedes bryozoan :D A bit of a stretch to find them all in one fossil bed, but it was just one of those ideas I got in my head that wouldn’t go away until I made it.

Lystrosaurus plush! After the Xmas rush I was finally able to take a little breather from custom orders and make something that I’ve wanted to make for a little while now. I remember being in my Evolution of the Earth class once upon a time and learning about Lystrosaurus fossil distribution helping confirm the existence of Pangea. I also love when the Lystrosaurus knocks into the camera in the BBC’s Walking with Monsters. I’m a sucker for a clumsy mammal-like reptile.

Just thought I would show off some great Anomalocaris patches my friend across the pond makes (and I am now the proud owner of two!)! Aren’t they adorable?? They come in the two different colors shown. If you desire some of these patches of your own check out her site http://www.shrimptees.bigcartel.com/category/woven-patches

A feathery Velociraptor plush request I made. Had difficulty figuring out the feathers, but it turned out ok. This plush is a bit bigger than my usual plush and you can see (thanks to my super awesome photography skills) that there are 5 empty spools of thread holding up its tail. Another scary turned to cuddly :D

Amargasaurus! My sewing room is ‘decorated’ with a bunch of nerdy paleontology type posters; one of them being a National Geographic pull out poster from a while ago. It features my favorite Sauropod…Amargasaurus. I think the image has been seeping into my subconscious and I finally decided it needed to be created in plush form. I love its spines and creepy teeth. I put wire in its legs so it can actually stand on its own without any issues. It ended up being just over 2 feet long from nose to tip of tail. I’m a happy camper with it! https://www.etsy.com/listing/112570220/extinct-amargasaurus-fossil-plush-in

Steampunk Anomalocaris! What a dapper gentleman he is. This was a special request from an Etsy customer for a gift. Had to special order the fabric online as apparently fabric stores aren’t cool enough to carry old world map prints. The leftover fabric has already been assigned to projects so I think I’m going to retire this specific version of Anomalocaris (meaning please please no one message me 3 days before Xmas begging for me to make one for their most favorite person in the world). Unless someone offers to pay off my student loans for me. I might make an exception in that case ;)

These 3 plush are my submissions for the annual Plush You! plush show in Seattle next month. Ammonite, Dia de Muertos Trilobite and Opabinia are on their way to a wetter climate!

Baby girl’s first Trilobite! Customer appreciation photo :) Now here’s a baby that’s getting a good start on life. Thanks to her mum for sending me the photo!

A week or so ago my husband and I took a vacation. As normal people choose to do, we thought the best use of our time would be driving aimlessly for days on end so we could enjoy the stiff leather seats of our car. Ok, so it wasn’t so much of an ‘aimless’ drive as it was purposeful. We were storm chasing! Of course that did mean we spent almost the entire vacation in the car, but I managed to sew up some keychains during our trip! A couple of the Ammonite keychains actually got to see the short lived tornado that was produced by the supercell that I’m standing in front of in the photo (photo was taken before the tornado produced). That cell also produced 5 inch hail which we safely avoided :) We went from Wyoming to Nebraska and down to Oklahoma and back. Overall a successful trip!
